Stories from Light - told and untold - a Continuous Journey
Sculptural light installation
Dichroic Glass, stainless steel, light
26' x 26' x 4'6"
Women and Babies Hospital of Lancaster General, Lancaster, PA
IKM Architects, Pittsburgh, PA
Created as a special focal point for the central rotunda of the Women and Babies Hospital, this installation creates a "rainbow" on the ceiling, flanked by more muted colors, which "glow" on the sides. From the center, a series of sculptural "women," made from stainless steel and dichroic glass, devolve into the space itself.
This installation picks up on the stories and myths of creation where figures come out of rainbows. Told not with a specific story in mind, it was designed to serve as a beginning for a series of stories that would be created by storytellers to become part of the legend of the hospital.
