The owner of The Spa came to the architects
and asked for a "European Spa", where the
architect, artist, and artisans worked closely
together. With half the spa in a below ground area,
bright colors and flowers seemed a natural, and
the "cartoon" like punch of the flowers seemed
just right. At the bottom of the swimming pool,
mosaic tile "leaf shadows" shimmer below the
swimmers, while opposite, a 32' wall of etched
glass sits in counterpoint. Etched stainless steel
walls (as seen on the left), etched glass panels
and mirror, and an etched glass door complete
the art in the project.
